Fall 2012 Fly Fishing Contest Submissions

Postby nielson » Wed Sep 05, 2012 7:55 am

Post your submissions here for Fall 2012 (Sep, Oct & Nov). Provide as a minimum:

1. Your screen name (We'll have it when you post, if you are the one who caught it).
2. Date of catch.
3. Species.
4. Length (To nearest 1/2 inch).
5. Fly used.
6. OPTIONAL: Anything you'd like to add

For contest rules, click HERE.

NOTE: Because I'm pretty much a slacker and in addition to the lack of submissions in recent months, I'm changing the postings to Quarterly submissions. Should save me a little bit of aggravation and work. Your pal, Jim

Got them, nokinrocks. nice ones. Interesting to see a bunch of spots posted. Was it Spotted Bass water only or that's just what happened to be hitting that day? YPJ

It was the Upper Olcmulgee... We were catching some smaller Shoalies, but most of the larger fish were Spots...

Got it, Mike. Maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention but seldom do I hear of anyone catching Largemouth out of the Chattahoochee. I'm guessing this was somewhere in the stretches through Atlanta. Way to go on what I consider a somewhat uncommon catch.

Colder water, lots of competition, other species heavily stocked would be a few reasons plus fast moving water is not to LM liking, they prosper and propagate better in slower water.

Fish was caught in a section I did not intend to be in too long - in between shoals.
I was in the float tube, and in a stretch of slow water just upsteam from bridge pilelings.
My fly went down into a fairly deep hole, and I thought was hung.
When I stripped the line, there was a little resistance...
