Meet Mr. Stubby.

A couple of weeks ago I tried to go down to the white water creek just below my house and use my fly rod. It's really heavily over grown so trying to cast was absolutely impossible.

That's when I came up with the idea of "stubby", the shortest fly rod that well, that I have ever used.Basically it's a short pole, sort of like what they use for ice fishing. I just put a fly rod on the little pole and checked it out. It worked amazingly well.

OK, it's not going to take the place of a regular fly rod but in heavy brush that is often found in small creeks I think it will work just fine.To prove my point I went out did a test run and managed to catch two small bream, one on a wet fly, one on a dry fly.

Here are some photos.
