Old Guy in Newnan is glad to join GRF

I have lived in the Atlanta area since 1948, on the north side until 2016. After my first wife passed from this life in 2014, I was blessed to find my present beautiful bride in 2016, and moved to her side of town. I had thought that I would never fish again, so almost all of my fishing gear was sold in my estate sale, after which I moved to a one bedroom apartment in 2015. Surprize, surprize - my new wife likes to fish, so I began buying fishing stuff again. It's been fun, but I went way overboard. Ebay, and other online sources, made it so easy (and reasonable!) to order rods, reels, tackle, etc., etc. I had a whole lot of learning to do, since I hadn't fished seriously since the middle 1980's, when my home grown business took off, and became 3 companies by 1990. There was a whole new vocabulary and dozens of methods attached to what was just plain ol' fishing. My step-daughter gave us a Pelican 10 foot fishing boat for two for our wedding present. It was just the boat, so I had to find a trailer, which I fabricated out of a trailer kit from Harbor Freight. I found a dead trolling motor, which I disassembled, cleaned the mud out of the bottom end, replaced the bearings, brushes, and seals, lubed it, and fired it up. Next came life jackets, lighting, a fish finder, and all kinds of boating stuff. I bought a new two HP Suzuki four stroke on Ebay. Alas, my wife's COPD worsened much quicker than the docs had estimated, so we don't get out much. The boat, and an 18 foot pontoon boat we bought in January of 2017, has not been in the water. We bank fish when the weather and her health allow. Some kind folks in our area have given us permission to fish in their private ponds, which have been real blessings on the dark days. I like to watch fishing videos, and read Bassmaster, Georgia Outdoor News, and others. I've been modifying my baits, making some experimental lures, practicing casting in the parking lot of our condo, and just starting raising Marbled crayfish for bait and to eat. I love the hobby, and will enjoy reading your postings. May you all catch your PB's this year, and make videos to let me see the fun. Tight lines!
