Due to the rainout of the previous date, this ShoaliePalooza event has been changed to FRI 03 AUG thru SUN 05 AUG 2018 :D :D :D

Camping/Fishing Event at T-Man's place on the Upper Flint, near Thomaston, on Adam's Ferry Road just off of PoBiddy Road. Please reply back here if you are planning to attend. You can attend all of it or just a portion of it. All good non-littering and law abiding river-friendly type folks are welcome. FRI night and SAT telling stories around the campfire is a blast.

And, you will get to see the latest tourist attraction on the river in progress. It has been taking a while.

Image

The slab is 4 inches thick, but the perimeter footer is 20 inches wide and 16 inches deep for the elevation walls to rest on.
Image

I didn't have to, but I had 2 24" x 24" footers 16 inches deep for column support.

The elevation walls are 12 feet high. I will build wood frame screened inserts. That will make a nice pavilion under the house.

I wanted to seal up the gap between each pair of horizontal steel L beams, so when some treadmill conveyor belts were made with the logo wrong, I had them slit to 8 inches wide. I built a frame to hold them to apply the epoxy and slide them under the openings. I could then press them up and hold them in place with super magnets until the epoxy cured.

The cheapest way I could get robust I beams was to stitch weld C beams together.

The foundation is finished. It's finally time to build the shell of the house.

Shoalieman, I have August 3 4 and 5 on my book, if it holds I will arrive late on Friday and leave about midday on Sunday. We will see. My wife had foot surgery this week but she is doing well with it however likely will not be able to drive by then so I may have to cancel. We will see.

To all, the river will be on the high side per the guage: https://waterdata.usgs.gov/ga/nwis/uv/? ... 0062,00010. It looks like the wider shoal areas of the river will remain shallow enough to be fishable, but make your own decision on that (my legal disclaimer....LOL).
However, T-man and myself will both be there. If you still want to come and camp we will be there because all I see are pop-up storms forecast for the next several days-----I don't see any heavy long-lasting rains associated with fronts in the shorter term forecasts.
If you decide not to come this time, we'll be doing another camping/fishing thing in later OCT-----probably the weekend of 20 OCT because the Dawgs have a BYE that weekend and we might get CreekStalker to join us on a DAWGs BYE weekend.
But once again, at least T-Man and myself will be there this weekend!!!!!!!!

Any update available on how this camping trip went? Pics? Shoalzillas caught? UFO sightings?
