Shoaliepalooza 2009 Recap

GRFers gathered once again at the Flint River for a weekend of fun and fellowship. Read the full blow-by-blow right here and enjoy all the pictures!

Short Casts

Shoal Bass Alliance: If you haven't seen it already, make sure to check out the Shoal Bass Alliance's new website! Shoal bass only thrive in certain parts of three river river systems in the world (all in Georgia, too!), and each of these systems faces pressures that could threaten these shoal bass populations. You can find a printable membership application here and I strongly urge you to support SBA either financially or by volunteering in some way.

Creekstalker News: My family and I went on a month-long, cross-country camping trip last summer that included some river fishing. I've written about the fishing and boating aspects of the trip here and included lots of pictures! It reads like a promotion for the Ultimate (which it was), but I thought I'd share it here anyway! Here's a highlight:

BasserDrew News: Longtime GRFer Drew Gregory (BasserDrew) has launched his own website! Check it out to see some of the coolest (and only!) river bassin' videos on the internet. Drew's website is also full of trip reports, fishing tips, and other cool stuff. Drew has been garnering some regional and national attention for his exploits on the river and there are some more big things on the horizon for Drew!

MacBass News: Longtime GRFer MacBass is moving to Arizona. MacBass has been one of GRF's best fishermen and an active poster on the GRF Message Board for a long time. He's also accompanied dozens of GRFers down various middle Georgia rivers over the years. I've no doubt that MacBass will report back fairly often once he gets the desert river bass figured out and would be glad to show any GRFers the lay of the land should we find ourselves in Grand Canyon country!

White Bass News: They are just starting to move up the rivers in NE Georgia and I suspect that's the case everywhere else.

GRF Rod Raffle News: Congrats to Rob Desso for winning the New Year's Day Rod Raffle. Rob will get a custom-made rod graciously built by GoneToSeed. If you want to donate to GRF and have a shot at your own GoneToSeed creation, just look to the left and donate whatever you want!
